We made our annual trip to the bluebell wood on a grey and drizzly bank holiday Monday, wishing we’d have gone on sunny and warm Saturday. But the bluebells never disappoint, even without sunlight leaking through the newly leafing treetops. Here’s Charlie’s bluebell slideshow for 2009.

When the sheriff tells you to get out of town before sundown, you best git a move on. So Charlie and Mum hopped on to the first stagecoach out of Old Tucson. That there’s a real cowboy driving the 4.10 to Yuma, too. See more photos from our Arizona trip. Charlie took some too.

We’re loving being able to watch the NCAA tourney live on the big screen in our sitting room. That’s ASU beating Temple, which we’re loving too! Go Sun Devils!
February 2nd, 2009
We woke up to find about five inches of snow had fallen overnight. School was cancelled, making this Charlie’s first-ever Snow Day! So there was only one thing to do, get out in the garden and build a snow fort. 
Of course, this much snow in England is guaranteed to cause total chaos on the roads and the railways - and the airports. Oh how they would laugh in Chicago!
Another snow day has already been declared for tomorrow.

We managed to remember how to use the timer on our camera so took this photo during our traditional New Year’s Day walk today. We send wishes for a peaceful, hopeful and happy 2009 to all. Another tradition is our slideshow of the past year in photos.

Charlie shows us one of the Christmas decorations he helped make during his school’s annual Christmas open house last week. The school was full of lots of beautiful decorations and the giant tree really got us in the Christmas spirit, and so did watching Charlie and his classmates in the Year 4 Christmas show.

Charlie is all set to tuck in to the fantastic Thanksgiving dinner we had today (we celebrate it a few days later in England), and we gave thanks for having such a good cook for a Mum and wife. If cooking a Thanksgiving turkey dinner with all the trimmings is one of the requirements for getting US citizenship, Alice is a shoo-in!
