Charlie’s looking very focused at the plate during his team’s latest game. The Rays thrashed the arch-rival A’s 29-12 and are now undefeated after three games. So far Charlie’s first year in Bronco/Pony baseball is going very well. Keep it up, buddy!

The Bluebell Woods 2013

It was a warm, sunny bank holiday Monday so it seemed the perfect time to make our annual visit to the bluebell woods. We’ve had such a late spring we weren’t sure they would be up yet, but they were as beautiful as we’ve seen in several years. So we have another photo to add to the slideshow: The Bluebell Years.

That’s Charlie playing Minecraft on his Mac mini while Skyping his friend, who is also on Minecraft, with his iPod touch. Today’s kids seem to spend more time together online than in the real world.

New Year’s Day walk

We celebrated the arrival of 2013 with our traditional walk from the Wotton Hatch to the Stephan Langton in Friday Street. Very muddy going after all the rain, but no better way to start another year.

The Olympic Torch in Reigate

The Olympic Torch relay came through Reigate today and went past the end of our road. That’s Charlie about to give the man carrying the torch a high five. A very exciting day and we’re now full of the Olympic spirit!

Knee high by the 4th of July

Diamond Jubilee Street Party

A cold, rainy day didn’t deter the people in our road from having a street party to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, including a tea party for the youngest residents. Above, the kids of Deerings Road tuck in to their sandwiches and cakes, while Charlie and Alice listen to the music provided by a band made up of our neighbours. Charlie even got up and sang for the crowd and made his parents very proud. Has it really been 10 years since the last street party?
