Fire strike goes ahead. Firefighters in Britain return to the picket lines for an eight-day strike after the acrimonious failure of all-night talks to resolve their pay dispute. It's a bit worrying that 50,000 firefighters are being replaced by a few thousand soldiers equipped with fire engines that were built in the 1950s and that have ladders which only go up about three stories. 2:14:25 PM
